Hello parents and students! This website is designed to keep you updated on our activities and studies in EGP (ULE) during the 2012-13 school year. I will be regularly updating what students are engaged in and listing some websites that students can explore at home. I hope this helps you, and I trust you and your child will enjoy checking here from time to time. Thanks ! Mr. Dixen
KRYPTO PROBLEM OF THE WEEK:
4,7,8,10,12
5,9,15
Can you get the answer more than one way?
SCIENCE
This year we will begin with simple machines, where we will learn, build, discover, and do a presentation on the 6 simple machines. We will learn in-depth Newton's 3 Laws of Physics, and our culminating activity will be experimenting with a catapult and trebuchet. Thus far we have made simple machines with Legos and are currently finishing up Science Court, where we are conducting experiments and learning about inertia, friction, and mass.
MATH
Algebra is our first math unit. We will learn the basics of algebraic linear equations and will spend most of the first unit problem solving. This will challenge students to understand what the problem is, how to find the unknown in the problem, and then how to set it up correctly. Once that is done (!) students can solve the linear equation using the methods they have learned.
